Sarah and I went to FL so I could meet her Dad and his girlfriend. What a great vacation! We stayed from Thursday morning until last night. And the time just absolutely flew by. I'm finally as tan as can be, so at least I won't look like "old dead white girl" for the next few weeks.
When we arrived Sarah's dad was easy to spot, since he was donning an authentic Yellow Cab cap and his girlfriend was wearing a matching yellow derby hat. Very cute!
They were immediately welcoming to me and we got along easily. When we arrived at Sarah's Dad's place, we were informed that they did not rent us a car. Instead, we'd be zipping around town in Sarah's Dad's girlfriend's tiny bright blue two-seater BMW convertible. Fine by us, of course!! ^_^
Funny enough about the car, Sarah and I had bought a blue inner tube for the beach. I blew the thing up once we got there, but had a horrible time deflating it for the drive home. So, what did we do? The only logical thing: took the top down and I put it around my neck for the drive home!
Clearly I was the most exciting spectacle those people have seen in quite some time. People kept pointing and at one point, while we were stopped, a man came running out of a store with a camera. He asked me if he could take my picture to hang in the establishment. So, now I'm a freak celebrity of sorts...
Anyway, Sarah and I crammed as much as possible into this trip! We went jet-skiing (my first time), hung out at the beach for about 60% of the time, ate out at some GREAT restaurants, went to dinner parties at her Dad's friends' homes (where I was proudly introduced as "Sarah's girlfriend"), and last, but certainly NOT least, saw Che-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-r!
Sarah's Dad said we shouldn't be bothered driving all the way to Tampa (hour and a half), so what did he do? Why, hired us a limo-o-o-o-o-o, of course! Now THAT was the way to go to Cyndi Lauper / Cher! Sarah's Dad ROCKS!
I kept this entry as brief as possible, but to sum it up, it was a wonderful time, Sarah's Dad and girlfriend REALLY liked me and they invited my back "anytime." So that was great and made me happy. I love being so accepted by Sarah's family, not to mention the fact that they are so open-minded in general.
And now I'm back at work... feh.
