Cats and Dogs...

I am so down in the dumps today, it's ridiculous. There's really no reason for me to be either. Yet here I am.

So I suppose I will simply do a "Weekend in Review" post. After all, it was a pretty typical Friday through Sunday filled with interesting excitement. But luckily it wasn't nearly as adventurous as the previous weekend.

Friday was filled with work. I had actually gone out on Thursday night to the Midway, so it was a tired sort of day. What a huge difference from the previous week though. After having met those girls at the Tiger Lily, I suddenly felt like I knew the majority of the people there. I danced with a lot of different people and was sorely disappointed that Heather (I know I know you from somewhere...) wouldn't dance. Oh well.

I got there late because of closing HW, but there was still a decent sized crowd there.
It was pretty mellow, I just danced a lot, then drove Heather home. She's very sweet.

Friday night was a little more exciting. I went to Tiger Lily with a few people and did a lot of dancing. I also got progressively trashed. Still have that lovely low tolerance.

Chris, Liz's friend, and I chatted for a bit and discovered we were both planning on spending Saturday day at the beach, so we made plans to go together. Before long she and Liz left and I was psyched when the "beach ball crew" showed up 15 min. later.

So the night ended in the same fashion it did the previous week: a drunken game of "keep it up" and me turning down an invite to an after hours party when the club closed.

I got up at 7:00 to assist Kim with the HW Walking Club, then called Chris to figure out when and where to meet for the beach. I ended up driving to her place in JP and leaving my car so we could take her's. She knew where we were going, so I was more than happy not to drive.

She took us to Castle Beach in Ipswich and it was awesome! The only problem was these horrible flies that kept biting. They were really annoying, so I didn't get to fall asleep on the sand as I'd planned.

Chris is pretty cool! I'm glad we've become friends. We seem to have a good deal in common, which is nice. Turns out she works in the tech field doing software work and understands what my client does. She explained Web Services to me and was better at it than anyone has been thus far.

We tossed a football around for a while and I got to display my sad abilities at throwing. Then we went on a hike through the dunes and I was bowled over at how beautiful they were. I had no idea such lush plant life can grow in the sand.

After spending several sun-soaked hours on the beach, we headed back home. It was a great day and I'm looking forward to doing it again. Of course, I wasn't too excited to get home and discover that I literally fried myself. I am one big sunburn. Whoops.

All in all it was a nice Saturday. The evening, however, proved to be quite exciting...!

So, attempt number 2 was made at hanging out at tthe Randolph Country Club last night. Thankfully, I did not have to drive. : ) Dany did. I went to her place, dropped off my car, then we went and picked up her friend Tanya, then, lastly, Nikki.

It was a drama-free drive to RCC. Thank goodness! And I was so excited, I hadn't been to this place since July 4th of '97. Upon arrival I discovered that it hadn't changed a bit. And the crowd certainly hasn't either. Mullets mullets mullets.

Let me go off for a second here: how can they not know?!?!? The mullet has been dead for over 11 years! These women aren't that old! They can't be that isolated in the burbs of MA that they are totally blind to the evolution of fashion!!

Anyway, we got there and walked all around, surveying the scene. We instantly saw a group of really cute women. They stuck out because they weren't anything remotely close to a C.O.D.

Dany pointed out this one tall woman who was very cute. She had very short dark hair, striking eyes, and you could tell she was very athletic. I glanced at her briefly and told Dany that she was right, the woman was a hottie.

Not too long later Dany's "love interest" arrived, this total butch-dyke named Riley. All I could think was, "whoa...!" This woman was hard core.

As the night went on, more and more of our friends showed up. Butch Heather and company arrived in full-force, ready to tear the dance floor. So we hit that for a while and pointed out "interesting looking" women to each other, daring one another to go buy a drink for some truly fashionably-challenged individuals. Of course, none of us did.

As the evening went on I had a few drinks and was having a fun time. Out of nowhere this little tornado in a red baseball hat named Kelly decided she was going to whip me around the dance floor. I was cool about it and danced with her a bit. She even bought me a drink.

But then I literally couldn't get rid of her! Butch Heather had to rescue me three times by pretending to be my jealous girlfriend. Heh heh heh.

Later on I found Dany sitting at a table with her friend Tanya. I asked her what was wrong and she said that Riley seemed like she was dissing her for some cheesy tall femme girl.

"Screw her," I said. "There's plenty of other women."

"Like that one over there?" she asked, pointing to the cute tall girl we'd seen on our way in before.

"Yeah," I said. "Go ask her to dance."

"No way," she shook her head. "I'm not bold enough."

"Fine," I said, getting up. "I'll do it..."

I walked up to the tall girl and said, "Hi, are you here with anyone?"

"No," she smiled.

"Good, my friend wants to ask you to dance, but she's too shy," I said, then motioned toward Dany. "What do you think? Should she come over?"

The girl looked toward Dany. "Sure," she said.

I turned toward Dany and and gestured for her to join us.

"This is Dany," I introduced her. "And what's your name?"

"Aimee," she said.

Then the two went off to dance. I sat back down with Tanya and chatted with her Then after the song was over I saw Dany walk over and talk to Riley and Aimee returned to where she had been standing earlier. I went over there to talk to her.

"Did you have fun?" I asked.

"Yes," she said. "But I had meant to ask you to dance earlier. I noticed you right at the beginning."

That threw me. I wasn't expecting her to say that. "Well, why didn't you?" I asked.

"Because I'm shy."

"Shy gets you nowhere," I grinned. "So, now that the night's over, what happens now?"

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"Boy, I have a lot to teach you," I laughed. "The night's over. You have a few options. You can say, 'nice meeting you, I'll see you around,' or you can say, 'gee, too bad we didn't get to dance. Let's exchange numbers.'"

She started laughing. "Okay, we'll go with option B. I have a pen in my car."

**yawn**

Wow, okay, I need to go to bed. I'll complete this entry tomorrow...

Grrrrr...

It's not fair. It really isn't.

How is it that I meet cool people every 5 minutes and no matter how great they are, there's still the one person that seems to have a firm grip on my heart?

I suppose we always want what we can't have. I don't care, it's still not f*cking fair. It hurts over and over...
