I went out last night after closing HW. Went to this cute little dive dyke bar. I met up with my friends there and BOY, was it PACKED!
There were some pretty cool people there, including my darling Kim, Holly, Liz and Dany. (Dany's a close friend of Liz's) I was psyched because Dany's a great dancer... I think I've found my new club partner!
Surprise surprise... I ran into a girl I dated briefly in '98. She was very sweet, but it ended up being one of those situations of, "Well, if you won't be my girlfriend, I can't be your friend."
I had gotten to a point where I was so sick of that happening, I pretty much had the attitude of, "Boo hoo kitty..." watch-me-as-I-play-the-smallest-violin-i
We hadn't seen each other since December of '98 and so I was stunned when she came up to me last night. I admit, it was good to see her. Before the "all or nothing" incident, we'd had a lot of fun. I got to really like her, but our lifestyles were so different, I could only see us as being friends.
She looked good, I think she probably lost a good 20 pounds, appeared healthier, and seemed happier than I remembered. Of course, she was as flirty as ever. We danced a bit and she put her arm around my waist and said, "You look really good... I'd forgotten how awesome you were."
I simply laughed and said, "thank you."
At the end of the night we exchanged numbers outside. She actually said, "I still can't believe you left me..."
I said, "I didn't leave you. I wanted to be your friend."
She just smiled. We're going to a new club tonight and I'm hoping she's gotten over the whole thing. I really missed her friendship and had forgotten just how much until I saw her last night. I have fond memories of sledding, snowball fights, and late night battles on Nintendo 64. : ) (she has a 53 inch screen TV and waterbed)
Anyway, I drove Liz home after the club and then headed to my house to collapse into bed at 2:40. I got up at 6:15 to meet Mia at the gym for a strength training session.
The lifting wasn't stellar. The strength training area at the downtown HW is closed until next Friday because they're redoing the floors. We ended up at the suburban location and they don't have nearly as much space or equipment. I didn't leave the gym feeling like I'd kicked ass. Oh well.
And thus, dear readers, here I sit at work. I forgot my glasses, so this is going to be a horrendous day for my eyes with the computer. If I don't sleep enough, my eyes get swollen and the contacts feel like they're squeezing the life out of 'em.
Luckily I can at least go home and sleep after I get out of here. But it's going to be a long 8 hours... wooooooooo...
