Before I even read the article, this image immediately spun me back to 1986 when I was 9 years old:
That year I dressed up as a Smurf and laughed at my friends who used their McBoo buckets because within 8 houses, their pails were too full! I, on the other hand, had a gigantic flourescent orange pumpkin face bin that my mother bought me from TSS, which was the department store near us in Queens, NY.
By the end of Trick-Or-Treating my bucket was so full, the handle buckled. Luckily it didn't break and I enjoyed an evening full of Milk Duds, Blow Pops, Smarties, Tootsie-Pops and the like while reading a book from The Baby-Sitter's Club series. (After my mother checked each and every piece of candy to make sure it was needle and tamper-evident free)
Ahhh... the good 'ole days!
