White Caps

This past weekend wasn't as warm as we'd have liked, but regardless, we loaded up the kayaks and my mountain bike...

...and headed for The Cape!

Before we went out on the water Sunday morning, I went biking to the store to pick up breakfast. Since it was so early, the roads were clear and I got to enjoy my surroundings. There were all sorts of cute shops and what not. But most impressive to me was this sign that I passed on my way back to the house:

I showed Tina the photo and she said, "Oh yeah, I saw that! I used to hang out with her a lot. She's really cool."

After we ate, we hit the water. I brought my camera in the boat, but the lake was REALLY choppy. Of course, I took a few pictures, regardless! Here's Tina launching:

The kayaks have these covers that you wrap around yourself and put over the kayak's opening to keep the water out. They didn't keep us entirely dry, but they helped. Once we got away from the shore we hit a lot of rough water.

We stayed out for about an hour. It was tiring work with all the wind and the waves, but otherwise it was a lot of fun! Hopefully next time it won't be so rough out there.
