When my teammate handed me my very own jersey I kept grinning like an idiot. I was sad that Tina didn't have the camera, but hopefully she'll be able to take some pictures soon.
This game got right off to a good start with one of my teammates scoring a goal in the first 2 minutes. I played right wing and on my second shift the most shocking thing happened: I SCORED A GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It wasn't a cheap one either. I got in front of the other team's net and my teammate passed the puck to me. Then I turned and lifted the puck over the goalie's hand, right into the net!!
As soon as it happened my jaw just hung open for a couple seconds. I had practiced this move during the instructional session 2 hours prior, but not once did I get the puck in the net.
When I snapped out of my shock, I raised my hand up and let out a "woo!" Tina and her friends went wild in the stands and started shouting, "Top shelf!" I skated back to the bench and punched gloves with my teammates along the way. Once again I kept grinning like an idiot. And funny enough, last week I had joked to friend that I wished I could score a goal before I turned 30, ha! (I can't believe the big day is only 14 days away.)
We ended up winning 4 to 2. So my first goal and my first win!
I just love ice hockey. Crew was always something where after the first couple minutes of a race I just wanted it to be over. It's just non-stop grueling effort. With hockey I love going all out when I'm on the ice and then switching on and off with my teammates. Win or lose, the whole experience is just amazing.
