I arrived at the gym by 5:35 a.m. and picked up the 6:00 a.m. ticket. Before putting my stuff in my locker, I decided to nab my favorite bike first. When I walked in the studio I couldn't believe what I saw! There was already at least 9 or 10 people not only getting bikes, but sitting on them, ready to go! The club had been open for 5 minutes! I'd NEVER seen it like that, not even right after New Year's when everyone makes their "vow of fitness" and joins the gym.
Anyway, at 6:00 the class began. It was a typical 50 min. intense "go! go! go!" session, my heart rate at an average of 165 for most of the time. I loved every second of it! The pulsing mix of house / trance / top 40 music, the encouragement and challenges from the instructor, the burning in my thighs at times, the steady climbs out in third, "jumping," the refreshing taste of cold water that cooled my body when it needed it...! Ahhh! I've missed it!
When the class ended and I stretched, I exited the class, triumphant. I had won my first "personal battle" of the day.
The Erkster has returned in full force...!
